Ever thought about the person who sat on the seat in that public park before you occupied it? Well, most of us have not.
However, Seon Min Lee a student at RISD, thought about this and designed a special public seating system that will unknowingly bond you with all those who used that seat on a previous occasion. It’s called “Encounter”. This seating option creates a situation of “amicable and intimate” encounter between innumerable strangers using that seat.
How? Encounter is made with a special fabric that retains the impressions made due to pressure when a person sits and the marks can be actually seen by others, thereby creating a humorous and a strange kind of bond between people. Knowingly or unknowingly, you will be contributing in the encounter every time you choose to sit.
