Joris Laarman creates an evolutionary chair... Don’t be surprised Joris has contributed a new Bone Chair with a carmaker Opel, in the world of furniture. Early this month the Bone chair was displayed in the Art Basel Miami Beach events.
The young Dutch designer has made use of digital tool developed by GM, which according to him is the ironic result of his biomimetic technique is “an almost historic elegancy” that is “far more efficient compared to modern geometric shapes.” If you cannot understand this technology then watch the video, which Joris has created to explain the whole process.
The chair is made in the same way as our bones grows and the tool used is the same one which the Opel’s software uses to refine car parts to boost up strength and efficient use of material.
The chair features a seat and a backrest in high polished aluminum/ struts: silk polished aluminum.

Not only this Joris has released ‘Freedom of Beech’ (above) but also this chair is made from wood and he has designed for Arco, Dutch Furniture Company. Joris says that he I wanted to create something living and he made this chair, which will die like its owners death.
