
Ever imagined the number of chairs on this planet? I know that’s a dumb question to ask. But, consider this, anywhere you go you will see a chair of some kind: restaurants, office, schools, hospitals - even department stores have chairs!
Chairs have become one of the basic necessities. The best example to find different chairs at one place is a home .You’ll find them in the living room, in the dining room or kitchen; they’re in the bedrooms and in front of the computers. There are even chairs in bathrooms sometimes. Yes, that’s very much true. They can be of just about any color, shape, size, material and style you can imagine. Most chairs are used for the purpose of sitting in, but some people do have chairs meant for decoration. So, won’t it be much easier to buy chairs? All you have to do is find your type of chair.
Everyone has her /his own likes and dislikes. But there are some styles of chairs, every heart pines for; one of those is “the egg chair”.
Egg is a chair designed by Arne Jacobsen (1902-1971)in 1958 for the Radisson SAS hotel in Copenhagen, Denmark. It is believed to be inspired by Eero Saarinens “Womb chair“. As, some of its characteristics, match with it. But as far as the design is concerned, it is far better. The handcrafted Egg Chair is unique as the sitters can rotate. The tilt mechanism, the high back and designed curves allow relaxation.
Almost after 50 years of its design, the Egg Chair is still in use. However, the designs have evolved much. For example, the modPod and Lunar Lounger Egg Chairs are entirely different in designs. They are used in advertising, film and television. Now days these chairs are available in many color combinations. Lately, Egg chairs were featured in the movie Men in Black.
